The STEM Bridge program provides academic support for students through a variety of preparation, including test preparation and college readiness programs, to ensure that students are well-prepared for the rigors of college-level work. The program also offers individualized academic coaching and tutoring services to help students succeed in their coursework. Partnering with UCSD, SDSU, USD, and City Colleges will enable students to receive all the pertinent and updated information to succeed in high school and beyond.

The STEM Bridge program provides financial aid planning, paid internships, and workshops on securing scholarships, grants, and filling out the FAFSA for students from southeastern San Diego. The program also partners with VITA to prepare taxes for free for families earning less than $60,000 a year and offers financial literacy education and counseling

The STEM Bridge program offers a range of social support services, including mentoring, counseling, near peer support, and job shadowing a professional for a day to help students from southeastern San Diego. SDIST partners with community-based organizations and college clubs to increase enrollment of minorities and underrepresented students and provide opportunities such as Shadowing a Professional Day with a STEM organization.

SDIST partners with other community-based organizations as well as college clubs working to increase the enrollment of minorities and underrepresented students. Furthermore, students will participate in Shadowing a Professional Day with a STEM organization in San Diego as well as being connect with different Employee Resource Groups focusing on women or minorities. Our social support services are designed to help students develop the support network and confidence they need to succeed in their future.

The STEM Bridge program will provide students with many opportunities to understand their civic duties and participate throughout high school. We will offer volunteering opportunities at EIS as well as other community-based organizations, festivals, and events that EIS and SDIST participate in. STEM Bridge students will also connect with the existing Teen STEAM Cafe and engage in civic issues that affect their community at the local government political activities and government issues that affect their community. Furthermore, we will offer workshops and speakers to encourage students to vote when they are 18. This will ensure that their voices are heard, and they learn how to make a difference.

The STEM Bridge program has already seen significant potential by the outpouring of support from funders, local high school administrators, colleges, and STEM organizations looking for an educated workforce. In the coming months and future years, The STEM Bridge program and SDIST will help hundreds of students achieve financially sound goals through education on a personal, emotional, and practical level. Partnering with high schools, institutions of higher education, STEM organizations, parent organizations, and local potential employers increases our impact exponentially for students in our program.
